What Actually Happened?

1999, each approximately 4:28

This was my first video project, a silent video made using Brian Eno’s 1992 song, What actually happened? as an imaginary soundtrack.  In the video I lip-synch to the song’s words; the image alternates between red and blue with each song cycle.  This video was edited in-camera; the color shifts were created by an inadvertent positioning of my body in relation to the camera/TV used for the recording (the camera was an analog Hi-8 borrowed from my friend Ian Rywalt).

In spring of 2000, this was re-worked as an dual-projection installation for the University of South Florida Juried Student Exhibition, with the two videos facing each other in a hallway of the USF Contemporary Art Museum. To approximate this setup, both the above videos can be played simultaneously.
