Originally working from library books, the VIDEFILMOTEXT series takes a generational approach: beginning with text, moving to Super-8 film, and finally becoming video. As part of the Self-Surveillance project, I am mining these text sources, with the goal of finding and developing new relationships among very different parts (and many generations) of my family. The soundtracks for these videos echo this deconstructive and reconstructive process, consisting of manipulated and treated musical saw.
Exhibited at Madison Central Public Library (Madison, Wisconsin), March – April 2015
